Is the Universe Coalescing Around Something?

In some cases, you can find a kind of closed-form dynamics. And that's the case where we think we found like a new pattern. We don't necessarily understand why it's possible to go from statistical mechanics and description of all those tiny little particles to thermodynamics of gases. So I wonder whether that's us forcing our sort of mental structure on the universe because we can't possibly process all the details. Or is it really that we're discovering this in the universe?
