Is There a Black Hole?

A black hole if it exists wouldn't give off any light. The only thing we can do is look at the impact of the black hole on nearby space and ask, is that consistent with what we expect from a black hole? That doesn't tell us necessarily that the black hole is there. It's all evidence for what black holes do to the stuff near them.
