Professor Wolf: It is always possible that you would have a political imperative overwhelm the economic. In a sense, European fascism in the last century was that. Hitler came to power as a coalition between his political party, a fascist party, the Nazi party, and the top levels of German business. The US government is following called great power competition, essentially the new Cold War.
