Is There More Behind the Words Syntax Than Semantics?
The big question is whether these large language models just represent the convex hull of our experiences, or could they learn new concepts? I think that's a good question. They can definitely seem to reuse concepts that we use as humans because we are able to converse with chat TPT and coherence command model. And at points, you can sort of lose track of the fact that you're talking to an artificial agent because you're actually getting something useful out of the conversation. ButI think the true test of whether or not an artificial agent has captured, is able to express novel concepts as can they communicate novel concepts to us in a way that surprises us.
