The ark of the covenant is like a throne, as we see in places like first chronicles. The worshippers of the lord come to his footstool on account of his exalted status. At mount sini, moses alone ascended to the top of the mountain to meet with the lord. A question to consider: How might moses going into the tabernacle to speak with the lord enrich our understanding of theTabernacle and the temple more generally?
