Is Collective Human Behavior Random?

Historicists believe that history has been progressing through a series of stages, each generation doing a little better than the next. This type of historicist would say that it's not crazy to think that eventually these negations and human conflicts will have generally resolved themselves. And at that point we will have reached the end of history, where we can all move on with our lives.
