The Code of Honour in the Roman Plays
Honour was an incredibly important idea in ancient rome, and it was anie aly important idea to the barons in mediaeval england. This is one of the things that really brings together the english plays and the roman ones. It's bound up with the critique of the code of honour. Do we know? Do we know how well these plays went down? We know that julius caesar went down very well. But Antony, cleopatra and corilanus, much less evident of their success.
