The Idea for the Altair 8800 Microprocessor

Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen came up with the idea for what would eventually become Microsoft. He and Bill Gates were working on a computer together at Harvard when they first heard about an Intel microprocessor that could be used to write programming languages. The chip was called the Altair 8800, which is still in production today.
