i think tha davids are correct. There is a good case that there were real and serious intellectual contributions from native americans in critiquing the inequalities of european civilization. This is a great hand to be holding, but in a pattern that repeats throughout the book, the davids overplay it. They claim the idea of inequality arose in europe entirely through the indigenous critique. And not for the only time in the book, they later point out that the conception of inequality was alive and well in european peasantry. Really.
