The Market's Expectations for Volatility Over the Next 30 Days
The VIX or volatility index has been chilling below 20 for the past two to three weeks. The Merrill Lynch Move Index, a measure of price volatility in government bonds, has been moving around a lot lately. Since October 10, the S&P 500 is up 15%, the NASDAQ is up 22%. And while we've talked about the heavy concentration of big cap tech stocks that have led the gains, smaller stocks have been crawling out of the bear den into the spring sunlight.
