In computer science, we generally think that as time progresses, the theories that emerge are encompassing generalizations of things that came before. This is not at all the case and it's probably not even close to being the case. In natural science, there's a need for a grand, unified theory; in computer science you have this interesting mix of discovery and invention. And so later science is going to take what we know of as the computer and change it into something new.
