Biola: There could be a cultural difference in that Martin is a mathematician by training and has a certain view then of what a model should look like. But I think when those sorts of group in biology often see models and much more as a helping hand, he says. Biola: Mathematical modeling is a de facto denial of complexity. And if you do, then you might patch yourself on the back for being a good mathematician, but it's not helping anyone else.
