When he was a young actor, Ruben Navarrette had no opportunities to audition. He sent out 200 photographs and got like three or four calls back from agents. "Just because of my last name, the roles that were available for someone with a Hispanic surname were mostly in those days, you know, gang members," says Navarrette.
