Direct Oral Anticoagulants for Patients With Mechanical Valve Surgery

You cannot use a direct oral anticoagulant while an epidural catheter is in place. According to asra you should wait 24 hours after a spinal has been done or a catheter has been removed before starting a direct oral anti-coagulant. Patients who have cardiac surgery that doesn't include valves probably can continue if they were on a direct oral Anticaagulant beforehand but there's really not a lot of evidence one way or the other.
