The Uncanny and the Unknowable
Sally Kohn: Experiences of the uncanny, or objects that are uncanny, are moments where we not only have a feeling of weirdness and a kind of weirdness that undoes us. But also, there are examples where we encounter the fact that we consciously know some things to be the case. We know these things but nonetheless, part of us still thinks these things. Now in conscious, fully rational life, it's not possible that those things coexist with other processes like child-like primitive consciousness. That's just the tip of the iceberg.
