The days where we weren't allowed to call it asthma if they were under four years old. That thinking has actually changed several years ago. There is a subgroup of wheezing preschoolers that have abnormal lung function at the age of five or six years. If their inflammation, if the inflammatory process in the lung is not controlled adequately, they can end up with abnormal lung growth and COPD during their adult years.
