The future has to also remain predictably and reliably to the shape of the present. If it's too different, then you can't know that you can't not know,. You can't speculate that the thing is going to be whatever thing is that you're speculating on is going to being worth anything. So it's this tie where the future has to both, it has to end here, greater value, but also remains stubbornly the same.
