We are consciously aware of what we think the impression will be of everything we do. And we choose to do things to give a good impression now. Consider the medicine example, when you're trying to show that someone else that you care about them. Even so we're embarrassed about showing that motive. We'd rather pretend that we're just focused on their health say or our ownRather than admit that we care about the impression we're giving. The outside physical environment matters less for our success than the opinions of other people around us about us.
