The Role of the Birchers in American History

The Birchers came out of an anti-progressive era, anti-New Deal political movement. They drew on a variety of what historians sometimes referred to as this sort of older tradition of conservatism. One can go back to almost any movement or any period and find some threads, I think, that resonate. Despite all the differences, there are certain, at least thematic continuities in American life.
