The Importance of Sober Discussion
Torture is just a disgusting thing that we cannot tolerate, says philosopher. The people who felt incredulous had the idea there ought to be some things that are undiscussable. Nobody thinks in our society it's discussable whether homosexual should be publicly crastrated or even take a much more modest example of politicians being up for assassination. So this has enormous implications for the idea of what would count as a sober discussion. There are people like Dershevitz who say, I'm a professor and it's my duty as a professor to discuss anything.
