The ghost of hamlet's father may seem like a relic of an older time, but by the mid twentieth century, researchers had come to realize that the enlightenment hadn't killed off the ghosts. People continued to report seeing them, often people who, like hamlet, were grieving. Evidence to suggest that people who have those kinds of hallucinatory experiences actually cope better with the bereavement than who don't.
