Is It a Reference to the Novel?
There are so many references in the novel to this mind set about french nastalgia for indo china, which andochin comes to embody. The adaptation of marguerite derass the lover does pretty much exactly the same thing - it's set in an earlier period when you can avoid the question of politics altogether. Why do you think there is such a kind of amnesia about this period? I think because perhaps, like it has said, because everyone who remembered o it no morer more, the american war is i call it. And perhaps because of that, the french were not reminded what they actually done during the colony.
