The book, the massacre, my family's connection to it, my great grandmother's work all of this came down on me at one time. Calalea: It felt a like a mix of feeli one of them is betrayal. How could my family not have shared this with me? But then as i began to think more broadly, i began to have more compassion for how my grandmother, as a young child of seven, lived through such a horrific event. So i i understand the complexities of motivations that people have for doing or not doing any number of things.
