Lauren Gardner: I come from an alcoholic father that lost his job and just turned into this monster. The kids can actually like see the demons forming. So in the movie, when the dad moves through this burden and he's demon of self-loathing comes out, the child believes it's her fault because always we're trying to help her parents. And she takes on this burden, informs her own demon of shame and guilt. They face their inner demons together with the father and learn to like embrace that shame that we carry for our families.
