The Importance of Access to Information in Cuba

Doctors in Cuba are part of the National Healthcare System, which is entirely controlled by the government. Because of this they get a state sanctioned salary on top of the standard social welfare enjoyed by all members of the nation. It wouldn't be unusual for a tourist to tip a doorman $30 and then hey bingo, that one tip has equalled the salary of a Cuban doctor.
