The Importance of Units of Measurement
Over the centuries, over the millennia, all sorts of leaders have made standardizing units of measurement a big part of sort of claim to power. And that means that they're incredibly important for architecture, for building cities, for roads, for temples. So again, controlling this thing becomes incredibly important for improving a country's prosperity. It also becomes an issue of national sovereigntyand presumably this where the phrase imperial measurements comes from as well.
