How to Deal With an Avoidant Partner
When the avoidant person shuts down and becomes dismissing, that means he, she is trying to clamp down on the experience of emotions. If you need a great deal of intimacy in your relationship, you may have chosen a partner who will have great difficulty giving it to you. Give this person enough space and the chance to feel anxious and miss you. You have to go a little bit further with this kind of person: You have to soften. Mirroring means you take their energy, you borrow it, and you use it so that it's not so confrontational.
