The Power of Metaphoric Cakes
In Succession, Connor is fixated on the wrong cake. He ate it for a week when dad sent his mom to the loony bin. It's a horrible shared trauma of just all of these kids probably recognize that their experience in being parented was getting cake or the metaphorical cake for fixing whatever hard feelings they were having. And if we can have the sense that we can handle their feelings, it opens up opportunities for them to thrive.
