Teachers need to know what reading comprehension is, and that it's best developed through the authentic exploration of texts. It's also worth priortizing certain key words that you want children to learn, because they're ones that are useful, but don't tend to come up. The last thing to mention is the principle that i ended with was te idea of whole class instruction being the default. I think there are lots of ways to engage with that.
