The American Alligator: A Natural Resource Saved by Regulation
The regulation on harvest actually saved them. The utility of the American alligator as a natural resource became monetized in such a way that was reliant on successful wild populations. Most of the hide industry comes from wild populations but they're required to put back a ton of alligators every year. They have size limits and things. But I would imagine that the meat industry recreationally is all from wild harvest.
