Sunshine Factory by Pansy (Isabella M. Alden) is a brief, warmhearted collection of seven linked-in-spirit children's stories that turn everyday disappointments into chances for courage, good manners, and practical faith. In the opening tale, young Jennie Moore faces a rainy day and learns from Uncle Jack that sunshine is something you can make - by refusing to dwell on what you have missed, noticing the joys still within reach, and choosing to brighten life for someone else. From there, the book moves through moments both ordinary and aching: Mollie, determined to create a Thanksgiving dinner in spite of poverty; Stuart Milburn, a visiting city boy bristling at his cousins' concern for his soul; little Ray, filling his mother's morning with Bible stories and childlike certainty; and Nettie Holmes, a sickly girl whose weary mother prays for help in a stifling city summer. Two final sketches test character in smaller ways - a child reciting a hard verse that lands in an adult heart, and Brown Tommy, a sharply dressed boy whose tongue and manners do not quite match his outfit. Each story is a small workshop in making kindness, patience, and hope.
