Omega-3 Fatty Acids make up various parts of cells in the brain and body. They are important for the actual construction of those tissues, as well as having anti-inflammatory effects through things like limiting prostaglandins or other things that can cause inflammation. The study found a greater analgesic effect of increasing Omega-3s while also reducing Omega-6 fatty acids. But if Omega-6s were just reduced on their own, there wasn't as great an effect in terms of reducing pain and inflammation.
