The Differences Between Vienna and Barcelona
The city had been increasingly overcrowded and they'd been trying for some years to get permission from the central government. And then eventually in the 50s, they were able to start work on taking down the city walls and expanding the city. But there is a bit of a difference, which is that in Vienna, there was already quite a lot of development outside the glasses. In Barcelona, there was not very much development outside the walls. So it was this very compact, medieval core with its fortified wall.
