Mechanistic or Nomological Explained?

An explanation that is both mechanistic and nomological would be one which is a deduction from fundamental principles. An example to try and illustrate these four differences i'll try to provide an evolutionary example here so let's suppose that somebody observes that some species of bird has a larger beak than the then the previous generation. A purely mechanistic explanation would be something like well that's because the birds with bigger beaks had more children than the birds with smaller beaks.
