How to Write a First Person Memoir

It's one of those things where first person is so much easier, because you can have the character give the reminder in character. Sometimes firtirs makes it harder if the narrator has no reason to give you the reminder at that point. In the first two books of terra, icnoda, mycroft is writing a history of events that are over at the point that mycroft sits down to write it. And so you have to make the opening of the chapter be authentic to the grief or dread or jubilation or exhaustion,. without giving away more of what you want to have happend in the chapter than you would wish.
