The Effects of Maths Anxiety on Learning
Maths anxiety affects as many as a third of adults and children in Australia. A recent study found that 77% of children with high levels of maths anxiety achieved average to high grades in the subject. In 2012, scans showed that brain regions associated with processing negative emotions were hyperactive while those that play a role in mathematical reasoning and working memory were completely unreactive. So no wonder we don't want to touch it. No wonder you run away from it. Who wants to experience negative emotions? Yeah, that makes sense. The maths is actually math in right now.
