Supporters of these abortion bands have an ethical framework where they are equating the foetus with the pregnant person. And so in their view, if there is still fedal cardiac activity, then they are saying that that is the equivalent to the life of the pregnant woman. The doctor can't do anything to extinguish that fetal cardiac activity, even if it means that the awoman's health is going to get worse and worse while they're waiting. M i wonder where this leaves what is really supposed to be a kind of sacred relationship in medicine between patient and doctor,. Between those who are pregnant and doctors that they expect to be advocates their health.
Across the United States, Republicans emboldened by the overturning of Roe v. Wade are passing laws intended to stop medical staff from providing an abortion.
But those same laws may also be scaring health workers out of providing basic care for miscarriages.
