The Importance of Calculation in Chess

I like your academic analogy also because as a teacher, I think writing papers is a great analogy of so many students and so many people are writing papers. It's like, no, editing is maybe just as important because then you get to take the raw idea and the raw output you have and sculpt it into something great. And I feel like it's kind of like calculation. You know, the writing is the finding the surface level moves and then the editing process is the taking that next step to make sure that it's the right move or the best move or the thing you've thought about most. So I think it's an interesting analogy that I've thought about before.
