The History of Technical Analysis

Until around 2000 maybe, a little bit before maybe after, you could actually see them as cousins of technical traders. Using price movement. All about price as an input. And that's what they focused on looking at patterns, looking for patterns in the market. So that's not unlike what technical traders do. But now you can look at them as sort of an early version of machine learning. They don't even know really why their stuff is doing, what it's doing,. Their trade, the signals, why they bought it, why they made money, that kind of thing. That's how people within the firm describe themselves.
