The Disadvantages of Commodification

The commodification of bodies depends on the idea that you own your body, he says. That's not at all clear philosophically - surely a liberal position is that you can do what you want with your parts? But I think secondly that's a very individualistic and rather naive analysis because individuals don't really realize the extent to which bodies have been commodified. Individuals lack knowledge, they lack awareness and I think most importantly they just lack clout against an industry which is globalized and very successful.
