Principle Three of Effective Story Engagement

When you're listening to a person's story, you are having a bodily experience. Your body is it is a finely tuned instrument that can be used to such advantage on behalf of the person who's speaking. If your body isn't available to use your imagination, if you have too much shame or contempt around where your body has been harmed then you're going to shut those parts of your own heart down. And I love that God's redemptive arc and all this is that you're invited into your own healing as you desire to step into other people's healing.
