On August 6th 1945 Kato took a day off because the factory was closed for a routine power saving day. She doesn't remember the blinding flash or deafening sound that other survivors would later recall. In 1947 Japan adapted a new constitution that renounced war for good and pledged its armed forces wouldn't be maintained. Then the Korean and cold wars came about threatening peace in the area. JSW started making weapons again. Now it's going to take a lot of work to get Japan's defense industry ready to meet Shida's goals.
