The Role of Peers in Addictions Treatment
In Calgary, our peers don't work within the walls of our emergency department. They are available as a resource to us on a next day basis. So, Anne agreed to be contacted by a peer because she'd lost her house. She was staying at a shelter in the city. The next day, a peer went to the shelter to look for Anne. And since that time, Anne hasn't overdosed and has stable housing.
