The Recurrent Laryngeal Nerve of the Giraffe
There's a nerve, which is one of the cranial nerves, and it starts in the brain. The end organ is the larynx, the voice box. In this nerve, it's called the recurrent laryngeal. It goes down into the chest, loops around one of the main arteries in the chest, and then goes straight back up again to the larynX. That is a very significant diversion. I could give a more basic example. Between our legs, we have an entertainment system in the middle of a sewage complex. So any engineer would not have designed that. Plus the fuel tank, the nozzle for the fuel tank is right next to the air filter.
