Hong Kong, who until relatively recently had basically had a fairly successful zero COVID strategy, has suddenly not just exploded with its case numbers, but also seen a huge number of deaths. The bigger problem is that old people in Hong Kong, just very few of them have got vaccinated. And the other failure of trust there, which is proving really fateful, is a concern about lockdowns. It tells you how important political alienation is if you're trying to run a coherent public health strategy.
