CHAPTER

The Significance of Moses' Staff

Moses takes his staff to Egypt as a sign of authority in Exodus 4. He brings forth frogs with his staff in Exodus 7 and initiates the gnats or the lice with his staff on several occasions. A shepherd's staff means some really key things, it points to Moses' human identity that God created humans to have dominion over chaos. The starfist is symbolic of how God is shaping Moses for his purposes. If we ignore the difficult moments, if we keep up the walls, we're going to resist that growth. But God wants to shape us into his pillars.
