Can I Do Research Outside of Academic Setting?
For all of this research, you can do it within or beyond an academic setting. So for instance, I could do a PhD at a university or instead I could join a research organization like Rethink priorities. There's also things in other non-long term, mysterious, like clean meat research or something. Each one is quite good for different people. You've just got to think about what makes most sense for you. For academia versus other things, there's definitely pros of doing academia, but you sort of, there's a lot of norms within it.
