The Challenges of Design Research

I try to think of the word design as synonymous with problem solving. I would say that personally, like my own process when working is that defining the problem is a big challenge - especially if you're not a big company. You really have to understand what you're trying to solve. Many times you start with designing a solution quite fast. And then after a while, you understand that you're just solving maybe a part of the problem because you haven't talked to the whole organization. So understanding the problem, scoping it. After that, try to the next Facebook would probably be understanding the user needs and how should we solve them by talking with users or customers.
