The Goody-Col's Story
Goody-col survived three witch trials and died in her own home. Her spirit is rumored to haunt Hampton, perhaps as punishment for the way she was treated by her neighbors. According to the legends about her, the townsfolk drove an iron stake through her heart following her death. Then her frail, lifeless body was dumped in a ditch at a crossroads. The grave was marked with a horseshoe, preventative measures often used in the burial of witches.
