The Composition of Our Student Body Has Been So Different Than It Was Ten Years Ago
As a president of hopkins, it's been remarkable to see how starklya different the composition of our student body is to day than it was decades ago. Where things have shifted dramatically and very quickly has been in terms of socia economic status. About a decade ago, about ten percent of the student body would have been pell eligible. Today, that's about 20, 21 % pell eligible, of course, is know, families that are a 60 thousand dollars of household income or less. And as a consequence, we become really important and interesting sights where you're bringing together people who normally, if they just stayed in their communities, would not have exposure one another.
